About Me
Hi, I’m Ashley Toews, and my journey with sewing machines has been one of discovery, growth, and resilience.
It all began in 2016 when I started repairing machines at Sewing and Embroidery Warehouse in Winnipeg, Canada. I quickly fell in love with the craft—fixing everything from domestic machines to industrial ones and helping people bring their creative projects to life.
In 2017, I joined KTR as a full-time technician. While I enjoyed the technical challenges, I faced mental health struggles that required attention. Seeking accommodations to return to work became an uphill battle, and ultimately, I left the company in 2021 after my concerns were dismissed. It was a difficult chapter, but it taught me the importance of prioritizing my well-being.
After leaving KTR, I launched Winnipeg Sewing Machine Care + Repair, hoping to turn my passion into a sustainable business. While I cherished the work and the connections I made, the demands of running a business proved to be more than I could manage.
In 2022, I transitioned to Rubenstein/RB Digital, taking on a customer service role that allows me to support others while keeping a hand in sewing machine repair. This blend of responsibilities has given me the chance to focus on what I love while working under the mentorship of someone I deeply admire.
Through every challenge and success, I’ve learned to adapt and grow. I’m grateful for the experiences that brought me here and excited to share this space as a resource for anyone passionate about sewing, repair, or creativity.
Thank you for stopping by—I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
